The next VR release will feature a custom game system, multiple locomotion options, and proximity voice chat.
During today’s VR Showcase Upload, developers Schell Games, Innersloth and Robot Teddy shared new details about their highly anticipated VR port of the hit multiplayer deduction game. Among us.
Scheduled to launch this holiday season on Meta Quest and PC VR headsets, Among us VR will have you working with other players to complete a series of specialized tasks to prepare a futuristic spaceship for departure. Unless you’re playing as an impostor, in which case it’s your job to thwart the crew’s efforts using any means necessary. This includes lying, sabotage and even murder.
Today we learned more about what to expect when the game launches on VR headsets later this year. The VR version of the game will include everything from a custom game system designed from the ground up for VR to multiple locomotion options and more. Here’s a list of features confirmed by the developers at today’s event (as provided by Schell Games):
- Map of Skeld II
- A handful of hats to customize crew members
- Heart Among us game systems translated into virtual reality, such as tasks, sabotages, emergency meetings and ventilation
- Proximity voice chat and quick chat
- One-handed and two-handed locomotion modes with nausea-reducing comfort options
- Eight language localization including English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (LATAM), Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Japanese, and Korean
