Madonna asks Pope Francis to meet after claiming ex-communication

adonna asked Pope Francis for a meeting to discuss “important issues” surrounding his alleged ex-communication.

The 63-year-old singer, who has claimed she is a “good Catholic”, took to Twitter to request a meeting with the Catholic leader on Wednesday.

In the post Madonna shared with her 2.7 million followers, hitmaker Papa Don’t Preach tagged Pope Francis’ official social media page.

“Hello @Pontifex François — I am a good Catholic. I swear! I mean, I don’t swear! It’s been a few decades since my last confession,” Madonna wrote in the tweet.

“Would it be possible to meet one day to discuss important matters?” I have been excommunicated 3 times. It doesn’t seem right. Sincerely Madonna,” the message concluded.

Throughout her musical career, Madonna has clashed with the Catholic Church on several occasions.

His song Like A Prayer was banned by the Vatican for featuring flaming crosses, which has been called “blasphemy” by religious followers. Then in 1990, Pope John Paul II has called for a boycott of her Blond Ambition tour, further accusing the musician of blasphemous behavior.

In response, she told reporters at the time: “I know that the Vatican and some Catholic communities accuse my show of being sinful and blasphemous and that they are trying to prevent people from seeing it. I throw you a call to you, righteous men and women of the Catholic Church: come see my show and then judge.

Since then, several figures in the Catholic Church have expressed their opinion of Madonna and her iconic work.

In 2006, Cardinal Ersilio Tonino called for Madonna to be excommunicated after staging a mock crucifixion on stage.

Then again in 2016, the Bishop of Auckland said: “There is no doubt in my mind that certain elements of Madonna are very offensive to Christianity and will be deemed equally offensive to the majority of people of religious faith. “

Madonna’s message to the Catholic Church came just a week after it was announced that the singer had split from her 28-year-old boyfriend Ahlamalik Williams after three years of dating.
