Olivia Munn felt a “sense of healing” when John Mulaney joked about her pregnancy.
The 41-year-old actress opened up about her relationship with the 39-year-old comedian, who joked during his stand-up routine about getting “mixed reviews” when he told people that ‘he was going to be a dad.
She told the Los Angeles Times, âHe’s so funny, and he’s so articulate, and he’s so smart. The first time he made this joke, I remember laughing.
âI would be with him on the road, and I would hear him tell this joke, and I felt a healing feeling with it.
“It’s hard to be pregnant for the first time and have someone say something else, like ‘Congratulations’.”
Olivia – who insisted she had decided to ‘step back and play the game’ when it came to speculation about her relationship – also admitted she was overwhelmed by the prospect of becoming a mother.
She added, âMy brain couldn’t settle down because it’s just a constant feeling that you’re doing it wrong.
âPeople tell me the baby will come and then you find out. But that doesn’t stop the anxiety I’m feeling right now.
Meanwhile, the ‘Predator’ star previously opened up about how pregnancy resurfaced her past bodily insecurities.
She explained, âI was called so many things, that I was too fat to be on TV. Then I started to undereat, because I was hearing these messages and I was trying to take that message from me. yourself and say to me, ‘Alright, you think I am⦠call me fat, I’m fat, of course, whatever.
âI was trying to take these things people called me and try to own them on my own, but I was struggling behind the scenes.
âBeing pregnant sparked all of these feelings because there is so much to say, ‘How am I supposed to do it right? “
“And I know there is no right, I understand that, but it’s really hard, especially having so many images on your face all the time of what really looks like perfection.”
